The town plaza of Samal, Bataan lit up with Christmas cheer last December 14, 2012 with the lighting of the decors that adorned the town square. No other than the Liwanag ng Samal, Mayor Gene Malibiran-Dela Fuente led the lighting of the décor that took three weeks to complete. The crowd of more than 600 spectators were welcomed with warm Christmas messages from Hon. Aida Macalinao, Hon. Junjun Lazarte, Hon. Ric Santos, and Hon. Rodolfo Garcia.
Mayor Gene Malibiran – Dela Fuente and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) assembled the 775 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program on October 1-2 and November 5 in the Samal Plaza Covered Court. The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program is a human development program of the national government that invests in the health and education of poor households, particularly of children aged 0-14 years old.
Patterned after the conditional cash transfer scheme implemented in other developing countries, the Pantawid Pamilya provides cash grants to beneficiaries provided that they comply with the set of conditions required by the program.

Matagumpay na idinaos ang isang orientation/workshop tungkol sa Implementing Rules and Regulation (IRR) ng Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4P's) para sa Municipal Advisory committee (MAC) at Municipal Action Team (MAT) sa bayan ng Samal na ginanap sa Casa Generosa Function Hall noong ika-16 hanggang ika-18 ng Enero 2013.
President Aquino issued Executive Order #26 ordering and declaring the implementation of a National Greening Program as a government priority. It aims to plant 1.5 billion trees in 1.5 hectares of public and from 2011 to 2016. In line with this, a tree-planting activity was done last October 31, 2012 wherein employees of the Municipal Office of Samal planted a total of 1300 trees in three areas in the municipality. More than just planting trees, the program seeks to pursue sustainable development for poverty reduction, food security, livelihood development, biodiversity conservation, and climate change mitigation and adaption.
Naging makulay at makabuluhan ang ginawang pagdiriwang ng ika-371 taong anibersaryo ng Bayan ng Samal. Pinuno ng kagalakan at kasiglahan ang isinagawang parada na ginanap noong ika-20 ng Abril, 2012 bilang hudyat ng pasimula ng isang linggong selebrasyon. Dinaluhan ng iba’t-ibang sektor ng pamayanan at pamahalaan at NGO’s ang naturang parada. Naroon ang KALIWANAG, KALIPI, KABAKA, BHW’s, mga kawani ng DepEd, Senior Citizens, Veterans, FARM-C, Fisherfolks, Samaleño Organiko, Farmers’ Group, Religious Group, Global Guardians, SABAYBA, Samal Market Vendors Association, MPC, East Calaguiman Water System Organization, SOLO Parents, STODA, PYAP, PWD, Aerobics Club, Samal Tennis Club, BHLC, Samal Tigers Club, SIKKAP, Hermanoz, Kabayan, SK at Bikers and Riders Association.
